Old Fig Garden vs Woodward Park: Lawn Care by Fresno Neighborhood
Not every Fresno yard is the same. The lawn under a 70-year-old fig in Old Fig Garden has totally different needs than a freshly sodded Harlan Ranch corner lot. Here's how we adjust our service neighborhood by neighborhood.
Old Fig Garden: shade, roots, and patience
Old Fig Garden is one of our favorite Fresno routes. The big problem is shade, fescue under heavy oak and fig canopies thins out fast. We overseed shaded zones in fall, mow a touch higher, and aerate every spring to keep root competition manageable.
Woodward Park: sun, slope, and stripes
Woodward Park homes get full Fresno sun, often on slight slopes. That means runoff is a real issue with quick watering cycles. We set sprinklers to short, repeated bursts and stripe the lawn diagonally so each pass evens out the high spots.
Bullard & Sunnyside: older sprinklers, harder water
Older Bullard and Sunnyside homes often still have brass impact heads from the 80s. They work, but they waste water. We swap them for matched-precipitation rotors as part of any sprinkler tune-up, usually cuts watering time by 25%.
Tower District: small lots, big personality
Tower District yards are small but very visible. We focus on edge work, hedge shaping, and clean trimming around the colorful Craftsman porches that make Tower what it is.
